Alpen Belt Bag
Join us for a fun, 2-part skill-building workshop as we create the Alpen Belt Bag - a stylish and functional crossbody that's perfect for everyday wear! This project is a great way to practice quilting techniques while learning bag-making skills. In this class you will learn how to quilt your panels for structure and texture, how to attach binding for clean edges, boxing corners for shape, installing zippers confidently, and bag assembly with hardware attachments. Pattern included. Confident Beginners welcome
Please see the Materials and Supply list below for what to bring to class.
- 1 Fat Quarter for main fabric
- 1 Fat Quarter for lining
- 1 Fat Quarter for accent
- 14” x 14” Foam Stabilizer (such as Soft & Stable) or Batting
- 9” x 7” Fusible Interfacing (such as Pellon SF101)
- 16” or longer Zipper
- 1 ½ yards of (1 ½”) Webbing
- Hardware (1) 1 ½” D-ring or Triangle ring, (1) 1 ½” Strap Slider, and (1) 1 ½” Swivel Hook
- Sewing Machine in good working order
- Cutting Mat & Rotary Cutter
- Microtex, jeans, or purple tip needle highly recommended
- Walking Foot for Quilting (recommended, but not necessary)
- Zipper Foot
- 50wt Aurifil thread, possibly 2 colors (one to match webbing/one for bag assembly)
- Safety pins and binding clips
- Basic sewing supplies (seam ripper, pins, clips, etc.)
- Rulers
